About HAM to CCH Congress Center
The Congress Center Hamburg opened in 1973 next to Dammtor station and was extensively modernised before reopening for congresses. It is run by Hamburg Messe und Congress and links directly to the Radisson Blu tower and to the park Planten un Blomen.
Where your car stops at the CCH
The Congress Center Hamburg is on Marseiller Straße, between Dammtor station and the park. Cars approach via the Dag-Hammarskjöld-Platz in front of the station and pull up close to the main foyer. The glass tower right next to it is the Radisson Blu Hotel, which is directly connected to the building, so many delegates simply cross from their room to the session halls.
Since the modernisation the CCH has been back in operation as the conference half of Hamburg Messe und Congress. Its halls and rooms hold up to around 12,000 people, and the largest one, Hall H, has a planted roof garden. When you book, enter the CCH address or the specific entrance your organiser names in the joining instructions.
Hamburg Airport transfer to CCH: route and timing
The CCH is one of the quicker destinations from Fuhlsbüttel, about 9 to 11 kilometres. Drivers usually take Alsterkrugchaussee into Eppendorf and continue on Rothenbaumchaussee past the university to Theodor-Heuss-Platz. Expect 20 to 30 minutes off-peak and 30 to 45 minutes when the morning commute meets a congress opening. The usual bottlenecks are the lights at Rothenbaumchaussee and the short stretch around Dammtor, where buses, cyclists and drop-offs all compete for the kerb.
Your driver meets you at the meeting point given in your booking. Add your flight number so a late landing is followed automatically.
Congresses and summits that bring delegates to the CCH
- DIVI Congress – the annual meeting of the German interdisciplinary association for intensive care and emergency medicine, usually held in December and recently at the CCH
- Global Security and Innovation Summit – a security policy summit launched in 2025 by the International Institute for Strategic Studies together with Hamburg Messe und Congress, planned as an annual event with the CCH announced as its venue
- DGI Congress – the annual congress of the German Society of Implant Dentistry moves between cities; Hamburg hosted it in November 2022, so check the location for the year you plan to attend
Many smaller medical, scientific and corporate congresses fill the remaining weeks. The CCH event calendar ↗ shows what is on.
Maritime Security & Defence: next door at the Messe
The Maritime Security & Defence conference (MS&D) is often mistaken for a CCH event, but it takes place on the exhibition grounds as part of SMM, the maritime trade fair held every two years in September. Conference sessions and the naval exhibition share one hall there. If your badge says MS&D, book the transfer to the Messe entrance printed on it, not to the CCH. Our page on Hamburg Messe explains the entrances.
What to tell your driver before a congress
- Entrance – the foyer on the Dammtor side is the default; some events open a separate registration area
- Luggage – poster tubes and laptop cases count as luggage, so list them
- Timing – opening plenaries start early, so land the evening before or allow a buffer of at least an hour
- Return – book a fixed pickup time at the end of the final session rather than trying to get a ride during the closing rush

Hotels and breaks between sessions
Besides the connected Radisson Blu, many delegates stay around the Binnenalster, a ten to fifteen minute walk through the park. Our page on hotels on the Alster lists addresses with notes on where cars can stop. For a break, Planten un Blomen begins at the CCH doors.
