At security, the container's capacity matters more than how full it is. A mostly empty large bottle may still be stopped. Packing liquids before your journey to Hamburg Airport makes the checkpoint simpler.
The basic rule: 100 ml in one litre
Published EU and airport rules generally allow liquids, aerosols and gels in individual containers no larger than 100 ml. Place them in a single transparent, resealable bag with a capacity of up to one litre per passenger. Creams, toothpaste and similar products count too.
Important exceptions
Necessary medicine, baby food and special dietary items may be carried outside the bag and, where the conditions apply, in larger containers. Keep them accessible for separate screening and carry amounts appropriate for the journey. Documentation may help for prescription medicine.
Duty-free and connections
Liquids bought after security can be carried under special rules in a sealed security bag with the receipt. A connecting airport may screen them again, so do not open the bag early. Your airline's cabin-bag size and quantity rules apply separately.
Check before leaving home
Make the liquids bag easy to reach and check the current airport, security authority and airline guidance on travel day. Screening equipment and rules can change. Packing to the standard 100 ml limit also keeps you flexible for connecting flights.
